Our organization the 65th Infantry Regiment MA continues to Honor and give Recognition to Korean War veteran Borinqueneer SFC Joseph A. Downing

Here we presented his daughter Laura Welch and her family with the Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal Posthumously by Virtual Presentation

They were also presented with the Ambassador for Peace Medal Posthumously

Inducted into the U.S. Army on JAN 22, 1952

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI

SFC Joseph A. Downing served in Korean from Spring of 1952- July 1953 with the 65th Infantry Regiment Company HQ & HQ Company.

He participated in 4 battle campaigns, his other decorations are as follows;

National Defense Medal

Korean Service Medal w 3 Bronze stars

United Nations Service Medal- Korea

Korean Defense Service Medal

Combat Infantry Badge

Republic of Korea Ambassador for Peace Medal

and now his Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal
