On February 14, 2021 Our organization the 65th Infantry Regiment MA continues to Honor and give Recognition to Korean & Vietnam War veteran Borinqueneer 1SG Pedro Pereira of Caguas P.R. He was captured by the enemy on Nov 2, 1950 and declared a Prisoner of War and was held fir 34 months until the signage of the Armistice and released during the prisoner exchange August 8, 1953. While in Korea he served with the 7th Calvary.
He was inducted into the U.S. Army on Dec 3, 1948 at Ft Buchanan, trained at Camp Santiago and served with the Company E 2nd Battalion 65th Infantry Regiment.
Here we presented 1SG Pedro Pereira with his Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal and Ambassador for Peace Medal by Virtual Presentation.
He participated in 2 battle campaigns in Korea;
UN Defensive June 26 - Sept 15 1950
UN Offensive September 16 - November 2, 1950
